Girls Night Out

For those who don't know, I work at Milliaire Winery between 3 and 5 days a week. The other two girls that work in the Tasting Room and I decided to go for a girls night out the other day. We had a lot of customers come in and say how good the Full Monty was that was playing at the playhouse in Sonora, so we decided to make an evening of it, first a little dinner and then the play to follow.

Jana, myself and Terri.

We were very excited to see they had Friday Night Wine Down going on before the play, so we got to enjoy some tasty Newsome Harlow wines and the have a glass while waiting for the play to begin.

The play was awesome! We laughed pretty much the whole way through. It was thoroughly appropriate for a girls night out too.

Part-Timer

In the last week I have acquired two part time jobs. I now have a total of 3 part time jobs. I think I am going to have about one day a week off. So, how many part-time jobs do I have to have before I can say I work full time?

Hrmph

Today, the receptionist is gone at my work so I am forced to sit at her desk, where I have zero of the programs I use on a regular basis. This all equals one very boring day in the land of C-Pie. I love that there is so much I could be doing at my desk or at home or anywhere else but her. So to that I say Hrmph!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. The husband and I are taking a long weekend to go to San Francisco, one of our favorite cities. So, even though I am frustrated now, the weekend will hold for me great food, shows, wine, and potentially a tour of Alcatraz since neither of us have ever taken one and we go to SF a couple times every year for a few days, aka, it might be time.

And no, I still have not taken the pictures off of my camera. In my regular life I have been very busy lately. Hopefully tonight though so that I can have an empty memory card by the weekend.

An Epiphany

I had an epiphany on my way home form work the other day.

I realized that my job is changing me, and this is not
in the making me a better person kind of way.
No, this is in the I am more bitter, sarcastic,
and generally not as happy of a person
as I was a few months ago.

I cannot tell you how sad I was when I realized
this about myself. I have known for a while now that I
am not satisfied and happy with my job, but I resign myself
to be thankful that I have a job in the midst of the
current economy where to many people do not.

After realizing this about myself,
I realize it is time for a change.
Not a change in my job, not yet at least,
but a change in attitude.
I must remind myself how to guard my heart
in the midst of a less than positive atmosphere.
The sad part is, I don't really know
how to go about doing it.
My heart breaks
for the injustice and negative environment
I see all around me.
I truly would like to affect the environment around me
for a positive change, but how do I go about doing this?

I once prayed that my heart would be broken by the things that break the heart of God, and it has happened, it actually happend a long time ago. Now, I how do I protect my heart from these things and the emotions that follow. I feel the pain, now how do I help it change?

The Weekend...

... involved lots of tasting of wonderful wine (I am a wine-o). We had other plans but when the vineyard called up that we are wine club members with, it all took a back seat to some wine. So good, so much fun.

The week ahead involves lots of meetings and a big event at my work this weekend.

Today-in my pursuit of avoiding a little work I am in search of artwork for the room in my house with the orange wall. I want some fall colored tree pictures.

Today is my niece's birthday, which reminds me of my mom. My mom used to always say things like, "Jenica is going to MARCH FOURTH into the future" or her life, or her destiny..." When I think of Jenica's b-day this is always the next thought in my mind.

And the winner is...

Ok- we did not win the stomp portion of grape stomp, but we did get first place for our outfits. Some people might say that the stomp is the most important part of the competition, but those people would be wrong. This was us right before the competition. Perhaps this is why we only got sixth in the stomp with all of the other vineyards. This is us actually stomping. Oh yeah, we have skills. Hatcher was the Vineyard that won this portion, and the overall. Steve and I are part of Hatcher's wine club, so I am ok with them winning. Plus they did not look nearly as good as we did. They did get three times more juice than we got.
This is after the competition with the president of the vineyard where I work.
And this is us looking fabulous with some Ironstone wine before the stomp. Jessica is the receptionist and my partner in crime in regards to all things Ironstone. For winning we both got $50, 3 bottles of wine, and passport for passport weekend, and a blue ribbon (I know have mine hanging on the fridge at home). The real joy is being able to tell everyone we are number one.

Stomp Weekend

Well, it is the grape stomp in Murphys this weekend. There is also a concert at my work. The receptionist and I somehow ended up being the team to represent Ironstone (where I work). We have had many managers tell us how important it is that we come home with a ribbon. This is all good and great but this is our first year, and we are going up against mulit-year stomp off winners. So, we decided the best way for us to win is to win the costume part or the competition.

Our bosses are so committed to us winning I did not hear one negative comment when I was working on our costume all afternoon at my desk. Hopefully I will get pictures of our awesome costume (we are making hula skirts out of corks), until then you will just have to envision it. Put up good thoughts for the "Six Mile Stompers" tomorrow so that we can bring home a ribbon. FYI- We are the six mile stompers because the vineyard where we work is on Six Mile Road-clever, I know.

Until next time-keep on stomping, San Diego.
