TWIST Tea

I am part of a non-profit group called TWIST (The Women's Improvement Society of Tuolumne). The main fundraiser for the year is a tea where everyone decorates a table. I did a little league table. There were a lot of really fancy tables, but I actually wanted my table to represent something in the community...

My favorite part is the sunflower seeds that are scattered around the astro-turf running down the center of the table... I also really like the jerseys on the back of the chairs (thank you salvation army and various other thrift stores in town...).

This is from the preview the night before. For the actual day we had no power, which also meant to heat... As the universe works, the power came back on as we were cleaning up, about 1/2 hour after the event ended. Se la vi.

Snow Day

After having now power since Saturday (minus a few hours here and there) and it is supposed to get down to 20 degrees or so tonight... We are staying at a hotel in our town (below the snow line). It makes me a little sad though, my dad is probably less than 150 yards away, yet staying at a hotel was better than the option than staying with him... Another story for another time...

Life as we know it

A few things that have occurred in the last month...
Most notably, my grandfather passed away.

Got some carpet in the orange bedroom, which has now become the master bedroom...

Steve and I went to the Bridge School Benefit Concert. This is one of the few moments that it was not raining. Totally worth it though.

A close "Uncle" aka Little Daddy passed away

Visited my mom's grave since it was so close to the other funeral.

There was many beautiful days in Sonora.

Made "The Uncles" Pear Pie, and it was fabulous...

And right now there is tons of snow at my house and no power, however pictures were not a top priority of all of that. I am sure there will be expanded posts about many of these later... As for now, I am alive, and have been very busy.

My Lady

My lady was in town a few weeks ago. So we did something new and different for us,
we went wine tasting.
Let me clarify, we both love wine and wine tasting, but for some reason
we have never done it together.
It was simply marvelous.
The husband even offered to come pick us up after it all, but that is another story...

Brook, attempting to find her prince charming.
Unfortunately, this frog was not it.

A little later that night with Zac-Bob in the background,
and moving on to margaritas and vodka tonics.
We also went back to the "good old days" and slept in the same bed that night.
The Husband was only mildly offended.
Brook, next time you must stay up for the whole three day weekend, in my opinion.

Blog- Fail

Life has been nothing short of hectic.
*Started taking a couple classes to keep me motivated in the unemployment (perhaps not the best choice anymore...).
*The husband is gone on a fire. He left Thursday, September 9th. He doesn't have phone service, so I have only talked to him 2 or 3 times.
*Family drama to be discussed in another blog posting
* Wedding and work drama to be forgotten forever
*It has been a very difficult month for me. I am physically and emotionally drained. I have a perpetual feeling of, I don't know how else to describe it other than drowning.
The day Steve left for the fire I went and saw Eat, Pray, Love with a girlfriend. I enjoyed the book but did not know what to expect of the movie. Their is a Neil Young song in the movie that I have been thinking about since.
"Heart Of Gold"
by: Neil Young
I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind,
it's such a fine line
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
You keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm growing old.
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.

The Cleanse

I'm so close to the end I can almost taste it. I have been doing it for just over two weeks now, and my last day is Sunday (just in time before I get to see island girl's smiling face). The acupuncturist said I was just gong to feel so good that I wouldn't want to go back to the way I used to eat. I admit I have cheated a few days, but I don't feel better. I don't think she understood how healthy I ate before I started this craziness. I have lost a few pounds though, not as much as I thought I would. I think my fat loves me to much.

Pasta

I have always wanted to learn how to make homemade pasta, and guess what, I finally did. It was surprisingly easy too. Just flour and eggs. Now, I really want a pasta rolling machine (the hand cranked kind). At $100 dollars it is not quite in my unemployed budget, but I will get one, eventually, that is...
